Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about Dynamics 365 implementation, pricing, support, and working with Equerra.
Who we are and how we work
Who is Equerra?
Equerra is a digital transformation consultancy that specialises in Dynamics 365 for complex businesses across Australia and New Zealand. We were founded by veterans of the big consulting firms who saw a better way to deliver enterprise technology projects.
Where is Equerra based?
We are based in Wellington, New Zealand and work with businesses across both New Zealand and Australia. We work remotely, on site, or hybrid depending on what the project and your team need.
What industries do you work with?
Our deepest expertise is in meat processing, seafood, food manufacturing, and fresh produce. But we work with any business that has outgrown its systems, including wholesale distribution, manufacturing, and logistics.
How is Equerra different from other D365 partners?
Three things set us apart. We offer fixed price projects so you know what you are paying before we start. We include unlimited support after go live with no per ticket or per hour charges. And every engagement is led by a senior principal, not a junior consultant.
About the platform
What is Dynamics 365 Business Central?
Business Central is Microsoft's enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform for mid market businesses. It handles finance, supply chain, warehouse management, manufacturing, and sales in one connected system. It runs in the cloud and integrates natively with Microsoft 365.
What is the difference between Business Central and Finance and Operations?
Business Central is designed for mid market businesses with up to a few hundred users. Finance and Operations (now called Finance and Supply Chain Management) is built for large enterprises with complex multi entity, multi country operations. We help you choose the right platform for your needs.
Can I migrate from MYOB or Xero to Business Central?
Yes. We regularly help businesses migrate from MYOB, Xero, and other accounting platforms to Business Central. The process includes mapping your chart of accounts, migrating historical data, and training your team on the new system.
How long does a typical implementation take?
A straightforward Business Central implementation typically takes 3 to 6 months from discovery to go live. More complex projects with extensive integrations or customisations can take 6 to 12 months. We always provide a clear timeline during scoping.
What ongoing costs should I expect?
Your ongoing costs will be Microsoft licensing (starting from approximately NZ$105 per user per month for Business Central Essentials) and any additional modules or integrations. Our unlimited support is included at no extra cost after go live. Visit our pricing page for more detail.
How we price and deliver
Do you offer fixed price projects?
Yes. Every project we deliver is fixed price. We scope the work thoroughly upfront, agree on a price, and that is what you pay. If it takes us longer, we absorb the cost. See our pricing page for indicative ranges.
What does unlimited support mean?
It means exactly what it says. After your project goes live, you can contact us for support as often as you need. There are no tickets, no tiers, no hourly charges. When something needs fixing or you have a question, we help.
What if my requirements change during the project?
We handle changes transparently. If a request falls within the original scope, it is covered. If it is genuinely new scope, we discuss the impact and provide a fixed price for the additional work before proceeding. No surprises.
Do you work with businesses outside Food and Beverage?
Absolutely. While Food and Beverage is where our purpose built industry solutions live, our core expertise in Dynamics 365 applies to any complex, growing business. We work with distributors, manufacturers, and logistics companies across AU and NZ.
After go live
What does your support include?
Our support covers everything from day to day questions and troubleshooting through to configuration changes and system optimisation. If it is related to your Dynamics 365 environment, we help with it. Formal training sessions and workshops are scoped separately as a fixed price.
How quickly do you respond to support requests?
We respond to all support requests within one business day. Critical issues that affect your ability to operate are treated as urgent and addressed as quickly as possible. You deal directly with a senior consultant, not a help desk.
Can you support a system another partner implemented?
Yes. We regularly take over support for Business Central environments that were implemented by other partners. We start with an assessment of your current setup and then provide ongoing support just like any of our own implementations.
Still have questions?
We would rather have a conversation than send you to another FAQ page. Book a discovery call and ask us anything.
